Since 1982, Shimokura Violin has been selling this traditional brand of violin as the exclusive distributor for E.H.Roth instruments in Japan. The Historic Roth Family - Passing Down Tradition and Craftsmanship Through Four Generations
 For more than 130 years, the Roth family has not only made violins, but also bows, and has successfully produced numerous makers and workshops of the finest quality. The proud tradition of E.H.Roth was founded by the violin-maker Ernst Heinrich Roth I (1877-1948) and his son Albert Gustav Roth (1900-1961), who passed down their craft through the family. Ernst Heinrich Roth I began the family business that still exists today, and in 1925 this was inherited by Albert Roth. In addition to gaining a reputation as a highly-skilled violin maker, Albert also acquired outstanding craftsmanship and magnificent style, and left his legacy in the form of a world-famous workshop that provides a stable supply of instruments. Bearing the same name as his grandfather, Ernst Heinrich Roth III ? Albertfs son ? was next to be placed in charge of the family business, and his efforts have been recognized on a number of occasions, including the musical instrument prize awarded by the Prime Minister of Germany at the International Musikmesse in Frankfurt (1992). This is true testimony to the unique contemporary quality of the Ernst Heinrich Roth Company, which is currently managed by Ernst Heinrich Roth III and his son Wilhelm Roth.
